Joining DAR
Any women 18 years or older who can prove lineal bloodline descent by an ancestor who aided in achieving American Independence can join DAR.
She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death as well as patriot service of her Revolutionary Ancestor. For additional information you may log on to www.dar.org for a complete list of accepted Revolutionary War Service.

If you do not know where to start, you can begin by completing a Pedigree Chart. Once you have this chart completed it will be easier for a member of our chapter to help you facilitate the process for membership.

Membership Process
When you are prepared to complete the membership process. The first step is to contact the Les Rapides Chapter. You may do so by submitting an inquiry on this webpage or by contacting a member of our local chapter.
A member of our chapter will guide you through the membership process.
We encourage prospective members to join us for a meeting so you have the opportunity to learn about our chapter activities, commitments, and to meet our fellow members.
Members are responsible for paying a one time national application fee, annual dues, and encouraged to subscribe to the DAR Magazine.
Officers are encouraged to attend State Sponsored Conferences, Annual Workshop, and Board Meetings.
DAR is a Patriotic Service Organization and we will ask for you to participate in one of the DAR Committees and activities.
You may start by printing a copy of the official DAR application. The copy below is provided to you as a "working copy."
The Final application must be submitted on ACID FREE legal size paper, therefore our Registrar will work with you on application submission. And review all of your supporting Documentation.
Written Instructions are available to assist you with completing the application correctly.

All Applications are Subject To Review and approval by NSDAR Genealogists.

The Chapter Registrar will review your Application and Papers Prior to Submitting them to NSDAR and collect the required membership application fee. Each Application for membership requires endorsement of two active members in the Les Rapides Chapter.
Once you have completed your application, you may upload the application for review by the Registrar. We will print your application for you on ACID FREE Paper, prior to obtaining the appropriate signatures. The Icon is listed on the Lower Right Hand Side.
